The Flush

Dometic 320 Review

The flushes are different between these 2 models.

Dometic 320

You will also have a gravity flush, but there is no 360º vortex flush pattern. It also has low flush technology, so it only requires 1 pint (.473 liters) of water per flush.

Dometic 510

This is a gravity flush that uses about a pint of water per flush.

The Winner Is – The 320!

The Flush Pedal

Both pedals work slightly different on these two models.

Dometic 320

If you only press the flush half-way down, you will add water to the bowl. This is only needed when flushing down solids. If you push the pedal all the way down, you will get a full flush. We like this feature as it saves water.

Dometic 510

If you only press the flush half-way up, you will add water to the bowl. This is only needed when flushing down solids. If you push the pedal all the way down, you will get a full flush. We like this feature as it also saves water.

The Winner Is – It’s a tie!

Dometic 310 Comparison

The price for RV toilets range anywhere from $100 to over $300. They vary primarily because of the materials that are used.

Dometic 320

Cheaper but good quality toilet.

Dometic 510

It is about $50 more than the 320, so it is on the expensive side of the RV toilet price spectrum. Overall, it is a more solid and larger but there is not much more to justify the price.

The Winner Is – The Dometic 320

Pros and Cons

Before we give our final verdict, here we will list some of the pros and cons of these Dometic toilets.

Dometic 510

Pros:

  • A good height toilet for tall people
  • solid construction weighing 50 lbs

Cons:

  • Expensive!

Dometic 320

Dometic 320

Pros:

  • The elongated shape for added comfort
  • This wooden seat is a higher quality than plastic seats
  • It hugs the wall and used less floor space in front

Cons:

  • An 11-inch clearance is required from the flange so it may not fit in all RVs

The Final Verdict

Today’s winner was going to be the Dometic 320! (You saw that coming. Right?) The superior wooden seat, the low flush technology and the cheaper price put this model over the top.

The size and height of the Dometic 510 is suited for the larger RV or mariner traveler. So if you are traveling with the basketball team, this will be your toilet! That would be the only reason that we would consider recommending the 510 over the 320 in this case alone. Happy traveling!
