Power Cord and Hose Length

McCulloch MC1375 Review

These things. May not come across your mind when shopping for a steam cleaner but they are actually very important when it comes to the ease of use. A short power cord means you will have to keep changing outlets in different rooms. The shorter the hose, the more difficult it is to get to those hard to reach areas.

McCulloch MC1275

We felt that the power cord was really quite short here at just 15.7ft. To put this in context, an average vacuum power cord is between 20 and 25ft. The hose is 9ft long.

McCulloch MC1375

The power cord is better at 18ft. The hose is a foot longer, reaching 10ft. It is also insulated which helps prevent accidents.

The Water Tank

The amount of water you can fill a steam cleaner with will affect the heat up time and the amount of time you can use the steamer for before you have to refill it.

McCulloch MC1275

It has a water tank capacity of 48oz. It will take approximately 8 minutes for the water to reach the correct temperature and there is a handy “steam ready” light to tell you. With this steam cleaner, you will have 45 minutes of continuous steam.

McCulloch MC1375

The water tank has the same 48oz capacity but we are baffled why it takes around 10 minutes to heat up when the machine has the same power as the McCulloch MC1275. There is also a significant difference in the steam time. You will be able to clean for 90 minutes continuously, this is probably due to the fact that you can adjust the pressure from high to low.
