The software that comes with the ScanSnap IX500 and the ScanSnap S1300i is very user friendly and has multiple options. You can scan to word or excel and then edit. You can scan to cloud services like Evernote, Dropbox, and Google drive. You can create multiple page documents that can then be searched through using a keyword search.

Optical Resolution

Both the ScanSnap IX500 and the ScanSnap S1300i have an optical resolution of 600 dpi or dots per inch. This is an ideal dpi because it produces excellent quality scans with clear definitions, but it isn’t too high which can make sharing more difficult.

The Final Verdict

It is true that the portability of the S1300I is a huge advantage, but unfortunately, it ends here for us and the winner is by far the ScanSnap IX500. It looks great and it might sound stupid, but it even looks like it can handle the work.

The speed of this scanner made it excellent for use in offices, but the price still meant it was an affordable option for homes. There was a really good range of things that we could do with the scans which made filing them very manageable. Really, it is difficult to imagine a device not having Wi-Fi today. Although a little more expensive, the ScanSnap IX500 is well worth it.
