Pros and Cons

It’s such a close call, let’s go over some additional pros and cons to highlight a few more specifics of the Epson WF7710 and the Epson WF7720.

Epson 7710

Epson 7710

Epson 7720

Epson 7720

Pros:

  • It’s a great choice for artists, works well on the card and various thicknesses of paper with no paper jam issues
  • Good quality prints, including photos at the larger sizes
  • It is ideal for the home and the office

Cons:

  • The scanner is not up to standards and some people have had issues with the auto feeder for scanning

The Final Verdict

Before we offer our final opinions, we felt it was necessary to mention that the Epson WF7710 and the Epson WF7720 are designed to be used with Epson compatible ink cartridges. By using other brands of cartridges, you won’t get the same quality of prints and you will also void the warranty. For the best results, Epson also recommends it’s own paper, especially if you want to print on glossy paper.

The decision for us was an easy one. Today’s overall winner is the Epson WF7710. If you choose either printer, expect to receive a massive machine. Our decision was helped slightly knowing that the Epson WF7710 was slightly smaller.

If you consider the uses, quality of the prints, and the technology, the two printers are the same. It was impossible to notice a difference in our images or the speed at which the two printers worked. We also found that both printers were very easy to install both on Windows and Mac.

The touchscreens and controls were also identical, so once we were up and running, both of the printers were easy to use both for scanning and making copies. We were very impressed with the connectivity. It was perfect to be able to print from various devices without confusing the printers.

So, what did it come down to? There were two differences that were quite big. First of all, the paper tray capacity. The Epson WorkForce 7710 only holds 250 sheets. However, it’s not often that we are going to print more than 250 sheets in one go. The other major difference was the price. The Epson WF7720 is approximately double the price of the Epson WF7710. We can’t seem to understand Epson’s logic to charge so much more for essentially the same printer that holds extra paper.
