What made our decision difficult was the number of similarities in the technology that the TCL 554615 and the TCL 55r615 have. The picture quality of both is amazing thanks to the Dolby Vision, NBP photon technology and the Contrast Control Zones with dimming LED backlights.
We liked both of the TVs for the Roku features. Roku provided easy to use features with a very impressive number of channels and movies to watch. The app offers even more features and is also very easy to use. There were some great surprise features like live TV pausing.
The TCL 55r615 had two things that gave it an advantage, the v-chip to control what your children can watch and obviously the size. But when we looked at this, we decided that 55” is still a giant TV to own. The TCL 55r615 is over $200 more expensive.
So, with this in mind, our winner today was the TCL 55r617. It had a higher response rate, excellent picture quality, perfect modern technology and great value for money.
