The Final Verdict

Let’s start with the good. These projectors do have fantastic picture quality indoors and outdoors. We couldn’t complain about the films we watched or the games we played, and it really did provide that cinema feeling at home.

The Epson 730HD and the Epson 740HD both look smart and don’t take up a lot of space but with a few DIY skills you can mount them to the ceiling and just use the remote control. This kept the projectors out of the way and saved you having to get them out every time you want to use them.

The lumens are the same, but the contrast ratio is better for the Epson 740HD. In reality, we didn’t see a noticeable difference. There certainly wasn’t enough difference to make our decision based on this. Another aspect that was the same was the built-in speaker. The quality of the speaker is fine, but you will probably still want to set up additional speakers because they are far from surround sound. It is true that it’s a shame them is no audio jack connection.

When it came down to value for money, it was still a close call and though you are likely to find some offers, generally speaking, the Epson 740HD is around $100 more expensive. Having said that, they are both within the average price range and with a 2-year warranty, they are great value for money.

Today’s winner is the Epson 730HD. There was very little difference in the projectors, and we liked the smaller model, plus, being that bit cheaper did make it better value for money.
